| Content | Sensorinural hearing loss is irreversible once the symptoms are fixed because of the limited capacity for regeneration in mammals. However, recent studies have shown the possibility of manipulating the regenerative process in inner ear disorders either by controlling endogenous signaling or by performing exogenous treatment. The aim of this symposium is to provide new insights from six different speakers including in vitro isolation of inner ear stem cells and in vivo gene transfer or cell transplantation so as to regenerate damaged hair cells or auditory ganglion neurons, and to discuss the feasibility of translational research in regenerative medicine as a treatment for inner ear disorders. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
